We already discussed what is Lightroom and its “Presets" (Click here to read What are Lightroom Presets?). Also, we talked about its usages. We saw how important they are. In this article, we want to show you 7 undeniable benefits of using Lightroom Presets.
1. SPEED UP YOUR WORKFLOW
As we mentioned before, having a workflow is extremely important in photography (and in life!). Having an organized process for editing photos not only will save you time but money.
2. EASY TO USE
Indeed! Once you have saved or downloaded them into your library, you only need to click to apply them to your photo. You don't need to adjust exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, clarity, dehaze and so on because everything is pre-defined. You just need to find the right preset for your photo.
3. ADD CREATIVITY TO YOUR PHOTOS
When you edit photos, you will often end up with a very similar look and feel because your inspiration and perspective often get siloed. Just like reading fashion magazines to check out the latest trends and try different styles, your photos need variety of inspirations. Different people will have different perspectives of viewing and editing photos. Trying different presets will not only add creativity to your photos but also widen your perspective.
4. SAVE TIME
Let say you took 100 photos on the same day with the same camera. Once you know which preset works the best with one of your 100 photos, in most case, you can simply apply the same preset to all the 100 photos because the settings and environment will be very similar across the photos. You can drag all the photos and apply the same preset with just a few clicks.
5. MAKE A BRAND
Many photographers have developed a style that works as a signature for them. You can use Lightroom's presets to make sure all of your photos look similar and have some consistency in your work.
6. GET COMPLEX RESULTS
You probably have seen a photo but you have no idea how it was made nor edited. However, you could find on the internet a preset that looks similar to what you are looking for, download it, and modify it so you can get the same result without spending tons of time adjusting the settings.
7. LEARN FROM OTHERS
A. preset can provide the opportunity to learn how a particular edit was achieved (especially good for amateurs).
If you downloaded someone else's work, and if you have applied it to your work, please always remember to give credit to that person. Although the process seems simple, it requires a lot of hard work behind.
